I really enjoyed working outdoors. We had two incredible mentors who were very knowledgable about the ecology of the area. I learned a lot about invasive and native plant and tree species, as well as spending a lot of my own time on mammal identification.
What I wish was different
Invasive species removal is very intense work. It was advertised that we would be learning just as much as we were working. It would have been nice if half the day was dedicated to invasive species removal, and the other half dedicated to education.
Advice
I would say take advantage of the expertise the mentors have to offer. They are experts in their field and have a ton of information to share.
