Internship Program - Wireless Testing Technical Support

In this role you will work closely with our Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), Radio Frequency (RF), or Milimeter Wave (mmWave) laboratory teams in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Our Laboratory professionals work closely with UL's Engineering staff to perform required laboratory tests necessary on wireless devices to deliver the fastest, highest quality and most customer-friendly service possible. UL’s laboratories uphold the most stringent quality control measures and are renowned for their innovative equipment design.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)-  SAR testing of wireless devices using automated robot assisted testing. For more details:  https://bit.ly/46lJZK2

  • Work Times: Shift – 12 hours; 1st shift 6am – 6pm;  2nd shift 6pm – 6am
  • # of days per week- 6 days 
  • Internship Duration (Approximate): Early May – Mid Aug End
  • Hourly Pay: $21/hr for new interns and $23/hr for returning interns

Radio Frequency (RF)-  Hands-on testing of wireless devices using state-of-the-art test equipment within various technologies

  • Work Times: Shift – 12 hours; 1st shift 4:30am – 4:30pm; 2nd shift 4:30pm – 4:30am
  • # of days per week- 5 days  
  • Internship Duration (Approximate): Early May – July End
  • Hourly Pay: $21/hr for new interns and $23/hr for returning interns

Milimeter Wave (mmWave) - Intern is expected to perform wireless radiated tests using HW and SW test solution.  The tasks of intern are to learn to setup the hardware configurations of test system and to apply software automated tool to control the test system to make measurement on radio wave

  • Work Times:  Training Period (4-6 weeks, begins in April): 8am-12pm, 1-5pm or 5-9pm
  • Peak Season: 1st shift 4:30am-4:30pm; 2nd shift 4:30pm-4:30am
  • # of days per week- 3 -4 days for both Training Period & Peak Season
  • Internship Duration (Approximate): March End – Mid July
  • Hourly Pay: $21/hr for new interns and $23/hr for returning interns

Responsibilities

 

  • Evaluating test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results;
  • Recording and explaining test results and complete test report for Engineering staff;
  • Examining customer samples and learning to operate basic tests for each case;
  • Following defined test plans and datasheets;
  • Communicating with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation;
  • Developing a working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems

Qualifications

 

Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis:  ( 1- US Citizen; 2- Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder); 3-OPT (Optional Practical Training) or 4. CPT (Curricular Practical Training) - please make sure you send the requested information by forms 

  • An incoming freshman or higher level college student studying any field
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of application
  • No experience needed, we will provide on-the-job training.
  • Ability to work onsite in Fremont, CA and have fun engaging with colleagues in person - if you are not-  you will need relocate without financial assistance
