Principal Gifts & Gift Planning Intern

REPORTS TO:     Associate Director, Gift Planning/Associate Director, Principal Gifts

TERM:                  Fall 2024-Spring 2025

HOURS:               20 hours per week (In-Office; some hybrid work available)

The Principal Gifts & Gift Planning Intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in our Principal Gifts and Planned Giving programs.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with briefings and proposals, including proofing, editing, design input, and distribution.
  • Review existing donor or patron lists for increased giving potential.
  • Perform basic research on donors and prospects team members via Google or DonorSearch.
  • File and document review in support of summary reporting.
  • Develop a standardized process for preferred documentation needed for 1M gift intentions.
  • Support survey analysis, including follow-up and strategic efforts.
  • Manage the Development department’s content library. 
  • Assist with generating reports and data entry in Tessitura, our Customer Relationships Management System (CRM), and learn to effectively use project management tools.
  • Assist in planning and execution of cultivation and stewardship Gift Planning events
  • Participate in research and writing for a Gift Planning quarterly newsletter
  • Research and provide insight on new planned giving prospects 
  • Perform general clerical duties (filing, printing, copying, mailing)

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate  degree in arts management, marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Candidates must have excellent verbal, written, and personal communication skills and be comfortable asking questions about projects as well as proactive in seeking new tasks.
  • Projects require prioritizing and efficiently managing multiple tasks.
  • Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic with sensitivity to confidential information and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) is also necessary.
  • Experience with CRM platforms is a plus.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally oversee evening or weekend functions, deployments, or performances.
  • Ability to operate a computer and to handle other office equipment. 

 

COMPENSATION:

Job Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Intern

Hourly Rate: $16.20 + Weekly $30 Travel Stipend
