Position Title: Bilingual Itinerant

Department: Department of Multilingual Learners

Supervisor: Dept. Of Multilingual Learners Director

Calendar: 180 Days

FLSA Status: Exempt

Objective

To provide bilingual instructional coverage for Spanish-medium teachers in the multiple bilingual programs in P-12.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensures that all actions are compliant with established Board policies as well as the mission, vision and values defined by the district and Board of Education.

2. Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.

3. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

4. Instruction through Spanish for students in bilingual district programs.

5. Cover bilingual teacher absences caused by long term leaves of absence, district meetings, IEP meetings, and emergency absences of bilingual teachers.

6. Assist with Benchmarking and Monitor Progress of Multilingual Learners

7. Assist in bilingual classrooms with reading, math, and language interventions when not providing teacher coverage.

Qualifications

1. PEL with Bilingual Endorsement or ELS TBE

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

1. Fluent in required position language (Spanish)

2. Best practices in language acquisition.

3. Best practices in reading, math, listening, and speaking instruction for multilingual students.

4. Best practices in assessing multilingual students.

5. Data management.

6. Cultural and linguistic needs of students.

7. Collaborative skills.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Education and Experience

1. Bachelors in Education with Bilingual Endorsement

2. Experience working with P-12 Staff and Students
