StoryCorps Legal Internship

LEGAL INTERN
The Legal Contracting function is responsible for contracts management, various compliance-related activities, vendor relations, and organizational policies.

THE INTERNSHIP
The Legal intern will work closely with the Director, Legal Contracting. As the Legal intern
you will focus on contracts tracking and filing and data retention efforts as we implement a new
Contract Management System (CMS) aligning with Salesforce and Asana. You will be responsible for uploading contracts and templates, formatting and processing data, and supporting the overall
contracting process through the CMS.

All StoryCorps interns are paid $15 per hour, and are expected to work between 14 and 20 hours per week. The Fall 2022 StoryCorps Internship Session runs from October 17th - December 16th, 2022. The internship will be based out of our Ft. Greene offices, on a hybrid work schedule - 2 days in-person 3 days remote. Fully remote work may be considered in exceptional circumstances / with the approval of the Human Resources department, but only candidates located in the NYC area are eligible for the StoryCorps Internship program at this time. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Emphasis will be on coordinating and organizing legacy files and creating a tickler system for StoryCorps obligations.
  • Follow up regularly for unreturned, missing or invalid data and files.
  • Work with Director Legal Contracting, IT, and Finance to create and implement procedures for
  • requesting, tracking and retaining contracts within Salesforce and Asana capabilities.
  • Update and possibly convert existing documents referencing StoryCorps obligations.

ABOUT YOU
  • You’re currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree-granting program 
  • You have excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills 
  • You are a quick learner, organized and thoughtful
  • You have an interest in legal and/or corporate areas, this is not creative
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and minimal supervision
  • You have a strong attention to detail; you’re proactive and self-motivated
  • You see the big picture, you’re able to problem-solving and multi-task
  • You have the experience and/or knowledge in the database management systems (for example Salesforce), legal principles, and online research (preferred not required)
  • Working with diverse populations interests you and you are respectful of those that are different than you
