Research and Business Development Internship

Intersect Illinois is hiring a part-time research intern to support the organization with economic development-related research and analysis. The individual will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to manage multiple roll-outs of different research projects. The position offers hands-on experience supporting Intersect Illinois' mission to bring economic growth and jobs to all of Illinois. The opportunity will allow for networking and relationship building with economic development partners throughout the state. The ideal candidate will be an organized self-starter who pays attention to detail. The internship will last 3 to 6-months (with the opportunity for extension upon positive performance) and requires approximately 30 hours/week (paid).

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all research tools and conduct customized research in support of projects, website and marketing materials
  • Direct the development, management and tracking of business development related projects
  • Develop a system within CRM to ensure projects are inputted and tracked
  • Work closely with the research and business development teams to deliver multiple projects in a timely fashion
  • Work closely with marketing department to support materials, press releases, presentation decks, etc.
  • Other special projects as required

Desired Competencies, Skills and Experience:
  • Candidates must at a minimum be starting their sophomore year in research, urban planning or business related field
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Excel, Power Point and Sharepoint
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with partners throughout the state
  • Skills and experience working with research tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Multitasking skills and ability to work with team, yet independently required
