Business Process Improvement Intern


This role is a key member of the Enterprise Business Process Improvement team that will use the Global Business Services (GBS) platform to identify and execute standardization of processes across the Iron Mountain enterprise. The main focus of this role is to establish a Quality Management System (QMS) framework for standardization of processes and provide effective support to the  Enterprise Business Process Improvement team to spread continuous improvement methods. This person will also be responsible to execute the QMS framework by documenting the critical processes in the form of policies and standard operating procedures.


  • Document Process Maps by conducting cross functional process discovery sessions
  • Create and maintain a one-stop shop portal on IRM Intranet
  • Maintain Process documentation in G-suite 
  • Identify the fragmented process policies and standards documented across Iron Mountain 
  • Support QMS Manager to document GBS critical processes and relevant key requirements in standard operating procedures in collaboration with Global Process Owners
  • Maintain and update this GBS process documents as needed
  • Create trainings and awareness content in collaboration with Global Process Owners
  • Manage governance around GBS process documentation (e.g. identification number of documents, approval and records of published documents etc.)
  • Support project administration,  documentation, monitoring, and review  tasks
  • Convert CI project solutions into case studies and CI training content where applicable
  • Support CI project handover to process owners, e.g., post-project hypercare, process control dashboard design, post-project impact evaluation.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree is required (May 2022), preferably in Engineering
  • Experience drafting and maintaining policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions and governing these documents
  • Experience working with G-Suite to create 
  • Experience with Process Mapping techniques
  • Experience using Process Mapping applications e.g Visio, ARIS etc.
  • Understanding of Quality Management System
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement and problem solving methodologies
  • Attention to details - consistent level of content and ability to identify subtle variation in processes across regions/countries
  • Experience with cross functional facilitation and working with people to conduct process discovery sessions
  • Very organized
  • Has tenacity to complete laborious and complex maps
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to switch between macro (20,000 foot) view and micro (detailed) view
  • Ability to comprehend complex information and communicate it in an easy to understand ways to the organization
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and framework desirable
