Director of Digital Marketing

Opportunity 
The Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for planning, developing and implementing the organization’s overall digital marketing strategy. That includes utilizing different digital marketing channels with the goal of attracting domestic and international companies to locate or expand in Illinois. The position is a part of the marketing team, which is responsible for positioning Illinois as the top location for businesses to grow and thrive. The team also collaborates with economic development partners throughout the state and works closely with Intersect’s business development, communications, fundraising and research teams to bring jobs and investment to Illinois.

The Director of Digital Marketing is a full-time position that reports to the CEO. Our ideal candidate is a communicator and leader who is passionate about Intersect Illinois’ mission and will represent Intersect to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity.  
 
Objectives of this Role 
  • Raise awareness for Illinois’ unique attributes and position as a leading global business destination over multiple digital channels 
  • Develop outreach strategy to reach target industries in target markets 
  • Coordinate execution of strategies across digital channels 
  • Track and analyze ROI and develop further strategies and plans based on metrics 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Build, plan and implement digital marketing strategy 
  • Manage and oversee variety of digital marketing channels 
  • Collaborate with business development, fundraising, marketing and research teams  
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partner EDOs 
  • Manage digital marketing budget 
  • Measure online content, ROI and KPIs 
  • Track SEO and Google Analytics data and analyze to achieve goals 
  • Identify opportunities and stay current on latest technology best practices 
  • Research competition, benchmarks and provide ideas for continuous improvement 
 
Qualifications and Skills 
  • Minimum 5 years experience in digital B2B marketing 
  • In-depth knowledge of various digital marketing channels 
  • Ability to develop creative content for different target markets and audiences 
  • Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, CRM, and basic web design 
  • Interest in place-based B2B marketing and the economic development landscape 
  • Experience managing team and vendor partners 
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital technologies or similar relevant field  
  • Attributes: detail-oriented; excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to engage effectively with various levels of management, staff and clients; team player; ability to work on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
