Position Overview
Under the direction of the Clinical Psychologist, performs highly technical and consultative behavioral analysis and modification programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. Designs training curriculum for lower-level staff; trains, evaluates and monitors the progress of Behavioral Analyst associates during the training period. Serves as lead worker to lower level behavioral analysis staff in the development, conduct and implementation of behavior modification programs. Evaluates and interprets assessments and data to formulate interdisciplinary approaches to behavior problems.
 

Job Responsibilities
1. Conducts functional analysis and other technical assessments (i.e. social communication and adaptive skills evaluations; reinforcement assessments; environmental assessments) to determine causes of maladaptive behavior to identify areas of concentration for adaptive behavior training. Develops, recommends, and implements theoretical and conceptual models and concrete techniques to address maladaptive behaviors. Conducts descriptive analysis, probe analysis, experimental analysis, pilot tests and treatment history analysis to identify and target maladaptive and replacement adaptive behavior.
 
2. Serves as designated lead worker.
 
3. Determines data needs and develops data collection methods for various evaluation and research projects to verify data collection procedures effectively outline the information required to assess evaluation and research results in the field of developmental disabilities in order to enhance behavioral and skill training programs. Develops methods to verify reliability to data collection. Conducts reviews of program implementation techniques through document reviews and personal observations.
 
4.  Develops and implements training curriculum program for Behavioral Analyst Associates. Evaluates and monitors progress of Behavioral Analyst Associates during course of training period. Develops training curriculums and provides training to direct service staff on behavioral modification programs procedures and methodologies. Conducts behavior drills with direct service staff to assess staff knowledge of behavior program implementation and identifies staff training needs relative to behavior.
 
5.  Serves as a member of the facility-wide Behavior Intervention Committee. Reviews all behavior programs to confirm the least restrictive appropriate behavior modification techniques are utilized. Provides highly responsible and technical reviews of behavior programs and data.
 
6. Integrates various facility and community-based services to meet the needs of individuals.
 
7.  Prepares charts, graphs, summaries, reports, etc. as they pertain to behavior analysis issues.
 
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
 

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Requires possession of a master's degree, with major coursework in behavior analysis and modification, from a graduate program accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis.
  2. Requires five years of professional experience in behavioral analysis and modification.
  3. Requires successful completion of the agency sponsored Advanced Behavioral Analysis training program before probationary period completion.

  • Requires thorough knowledge of behavior analysis principles.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of professional and ethical guidelines, federal and state laws and departmental rules governing the practice of behavior modification.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of training methods.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of assessment instruments and measurement principles.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of medications, medication control procedures and behavior problems related to medications.
  • Requires ability to plan and design individual treatment/habilitation programs for assigned individuals.
  • Requires ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff members, service individuals, and their families.
  • Requires ability to ensure that the design of treatment plans are implemented correctly.
