Emergency Services Counselor

The DuPage County Health Department is growing in order to pursue our mission to be the premier provider of mental health services in DuPage County. We are excited to announce that we are expanding our Crisis Services team to meet the needs in our community.  
 
The Crisis Services team is based out of our beautiful Community Center located on the DuPage County Campus in Wheaton. IL. Our mission is to provide 24/7 crisis mental health services to county residents who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or are in need of additional support for symptoms of mental illness. Crisis services staff work as a cohesive team to deliver quality care, and a quick response to residents in need. We have full-time, part-time, and on-call positions available, with a variety of shifts on the overnight working 10 - hour shifts. Shift differentials apply when working on the overnight shift. These position are also eligible for a retention bonus!

 
Full-time employees are eligible for a benefits package which includes 11 paid holidays, 3 weeks of paid vacation per year and paid sick time. This is also a pension eligible position and DuPage County Health Department is a qualified employer under the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program. We are also able to provide supervision for those seeking clinical licensure.

RESPONSIBILITIES: What do we do?
 
Emergency Services/Crisis Counselors - Mobile Crisis Response Team
Evening and Overnight shifts are available within this classification. Although every day can be different in your role as an Emergency Services Counselor, there are core responsibilities you can expect to meet. 
  • Conducting crisis evaluations in the community (homes, schools, hospitals, community agencies) for children, adolescents, and adults to assess risk and make recommendations for client care is the primary responsibility for our Mobile Crisis Response Counselors; and is an activity that all staff do provide. 
  • Crisis call management is another core responsibility that Crisis Counselors provide through both our local crisis line, and as a network provider for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.  
  • Crisis intervention services via phone and in person are provided with the goal to link and referral to identified service needs. Care coordination, communication, and consultation with both community providers and DCHD staff members concerning client, program and case management matters is another key to the work you will do, including supporting those who are admitted to Crisis Residential. 
REQUIREMENTS: If you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field (an LCSW or LCPC licensure is a bonus) and a desire to work with those who need your skills in assessment, intervention and connection to resources the most, in the moments they need you the most, we invite you to apply. We are currently offering hiring and retention bonuses!
