Lead Preschool Teacher
St. Joseph School is seeking an enthusiastic and thoughtful full-time lead teacher (must hold an Illinois Professional Educator License) who is dedicated to fostering the growth of children in our growing preschool program. Our team is composed of dedicated educators who understand child development and want to work in a faith-friendly environment that promotes child-centered development.
We are seeking an individual who can work as the lead teacher in order to help to create a nurturing and safe environment. They will be responsible from 7:45am-3:15pm for teaching the children in our program, communicating with parents, and partnering with our team to enhance the learning environment at our school.
Salary based on education level and years teaching.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain the sound operations of their classroom
- Effectively communicate with all staff (including their assistant teacher) and parents
- Provide a solution-orientated positive approach
- Conduct student assessments & conference with parents
- Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
- Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of lesson plans that will help children develop their cognitive, physical, socio-emotional and language skills for all classroom activities.
- Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Plan and implement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Meet the individual needs of the children
- Write and post a weekly blog via Seesaw
- Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level
- Correspond with parents regarding students' growth and progress
- Participate in staff and training meetings- every Wednesday for 1 hours after school
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelors degree preferably in child development or early childhood education, or the equivalent
- Must hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields
- Passionate about educating young children
- Ability to build rapport with children
- Positive and patient demeanor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 3 Letters of recommendation
- Pass a background check/fingerprint clearance
- Pass a physical examination with a negative TB test, COVID vaccination preferred as well
- Be able to lift 20 lbs., sit on the floor, crouch down to be eye level with children, etc.
- Current Mandated Reporter Training, CPR Training, VIRTUS, & other training certificates as required
