Adult Basic Ed Teacher - Career and College Specialist
Part-Time 10 months/195 days/4 hrs a day
Schedule / Hours:  Flexible schedule based on student and program need/availability. Daytime and evening hours, possibly some Saturdays.

Locations:  Metro North ABE - Blaine Learning Lab, Anoka County Human Services Center, 1201 89th Avenue NE, Blaine, MN, including possible occasional travel to various ABE sites.

Description:  Work with adult students in the ABE program to create awareness of career and college options available to them, and how to search, prepared, and take the next steps to pursue thse opportunities. This will include individual work with interested students as well as organized classes on relevant topics. Classes and meetings will largely be online (via synchronous online platforms) in order to serve students from across the consortium but some in person classes or meetings may be offered. 

Duties: Lesson plans and direct instruction, conducting assessments, monitoring student attendance, attending staff meetings, collaborating with other staff, keeping student records, integrating technology into learning, and implementing the standards. One-on-one meetings with students will involve scheduling and communication in coordination with student school and home/work schedules. Coordinated group lessons with other teachers and staff to find times that will work best with other class offerings and students' needs. Work with the Outreach Coordinator to help promote the course to current and prospective students.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Current MN Teaching License, or ABE license. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer skills required.  Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching within an adult basic education program preferred. Experience working with adult ESL learners specifically, and working with diverse populations preferred.  Experience and knowledge of the steps needed to pursue career and college opportunities preferred. Computer experience and comfort with MS Office (Word, Excel), Internet, email, and Google apps preferred.

Rate of pay: $29.69/hour.
