WORKING TITLE: Academic Advisor
WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
DEPARTMENT: Academic Advising Center  
SALARY RANGE: $42,595 to $61,596 annualized
 
The work location is in the heart of beautiful central Minnesota; just an hour from the Twin Cities. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
This position exists to provide academic advising to all SCTCC students that use the Academic Advising Center. The Academic Advisor works in cooperation with various departments on campus including the Center for Academic Success, Records & Registration, Admissions, Financial Services, Career Services, Wellness Resource Services, and faculty to provide an environment that assists students in achieving academic, personal, and career success and independence as a college student.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
·      Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution
·      At least one year of professional advising experience or experience in support services directly related to academic advising (i.e. admissions, registrar, career services, orientation, teaching, etc.)
·      Excellent presentation, communication, and facilitation skills 
·      Experience with college level preparation and success programs
·      Knowledge, background, and experience working with diverse groups of people
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·      Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution
·      Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
·      Excellent oral and written communication skills
·      Experience in an academic/higher education setting
·      Significant knowledge and experience with underrepresented populations
·      Experience working with students on academic skill development
 
 
 
 
 
 
Physical Requirements, with or without an accommodation:
·      Ability to perform work that requires the following lifting/carrying strengths:
o  Lifting/carrying 20 lb. maximum, 10 lb. (or less) frequently
o  Significant amount of walking or standing; pushing and pulling of arms and legs
·      Ability to perform in a work environment which may include the following physical functions:
o  Constant: Sitting, talking, hearing, near vision (up to 20), midrange vision, far vision (over 20), visual accommodation, field of vision.
