Specialist, Benefits

The Specialist, Benefits administers and communicates the Agency’s benefits program in regards to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements and assists in planning, developing and redesigning the Agency benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs. You will manage the communication and implementation of all wellness initiatives and ensure Agency compliance with federal, state and municipality laws. You will provide analytical support to include the preparation, production and distribution of benefits related reports and presentations, HRIS input, benefits communications, vendor billing, maintenance of benefits data, records and files and other support activities as needed.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Administer Benefit Programs (60%)
  • Manage and administer benefit related data feeds and wire transfers to external vendors.
  • Review and audit all vendor related error reports.
  • Review and approve all benefit related workflow to ensure efficient enrollment in the HRIS system and to ensure enrollment in the appropriate vendor plans.
  • Oversee data for unpaid leaves, FMLA, disability and workers compensation and in conjunction with third party administrators ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Review and process vendor invoicing to ensure accuracy and timely payments
  • Lead wellness initiatives to include the development, implementation, and communication of wellness programs.
  • Conduct periodic audits.
  • Update benefit information on the Agency intranet, SaveNet, as needed.
  • Maintain up to date benefit plan summaries.
Customer Service (30%)
  • Respond to and resolve employee HelpDesk tickets, emails, and phone calls regarding benefit questions and concerns.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments including life events and open enrollment.
Support (10%)
  • Participate in surveys and seek out new surveys and sources of benefits information.
  • Assist and provide input to the strategy of the benefit programs.
  • Work with the HRIS team to provide census data to brokers.
  • Assist in the annual benefit review renewal process, including open enrollment.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
     Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus at least three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience within an HR department to include some exposure to benefits administration.
  • Proven analytical skills with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot potential issues
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels
  • Proven HRIS experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UltiPro/UKG HRIS
