Technical Support Intern

After School Matters provides Chicago high school teens with high quality, after-school and summer opportunities to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond. Since 1991, more than 350,000 teens have participated in our hands-on, project-based after-school and summer programs in the arts, communications and leadership, sports and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Programs take place at locations throughout the city including Chicago public high schools, Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library locations, community organizations, downtown at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, in Belmont Cragin at our Michael and Karyn Lutz Center for After School Matters, and in the Pullman community at the new Gately Center for After School Matters. Summary of Position:
This position will support the Program Operations Department with a wide range of projects related to Google Classroom and general technical support. This position is a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented and interested in learning about organizational systems and infrastructure.

There are two vacancies.

These internships are expected to start around June 2021 and would ideally extend into the school year through June 2022. These roles will work up to 20 hours per week.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding Google Classroom and Google Meet set up
  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding Google Classroom and Google Meet technical issues
  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding non-Google related technical issues
  • Create spreadsheets via exports from After School Matters database
  • Create spreadsheets to import into Google Admin and After School Matters database
  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding teen application
  • Assist in account creation for online learning software
  • Complete manual data entry when required
  • Support team with administrative tasks (e.g. mail merges)
  • Assist and Program staff regarding Google Classroom set-up
  • Create Google Classrooms as needed
  • Add or remove teens and instructors from Google Classrooms
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient knowledge of G Suite including Google Classroom and Google Meet
  • Detail-oriented, organized
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Analytical problem solver
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a college student
  • Experience with technical support preferred
