The Department of Natural Resources is hiring 3 LTE - Fisheries Technicians. Two will be located at our Besadny Fish Facility at N3884 Ransom Moore Lane in Kewaunee, WI and the other will be located at our Wild Rose Fish Hatchery at N5871 State Highway 22 in Wild Rose, WI.

These positions will work with cold and coolwater fish species at the Besadny Anadromous Fish Facility (2 positions) and the Wild Rose Hatchery (1 position) and their associated propagation areas. The responsibilities of these positions requires a basic knowledge of fisheries culture and fish disease identification. These positions assist with all phases of the Coldwater and Coolwater fisheries propagation, as well as weir operations for gamete collection of Salmonids in the Lake Michigan system. The positions will receive direct supervision from on-site Fisheries Technician - Advanced staff, the Hatchery Biologist, and/or the work unit supervisor. These positions require weekend, evening and holiday work hours. Work may be done in inclement weather conditions.

65% - Fish propagation and spawning activities
- Assist in the general rearing and spawning operations under the direction of senior hatchery staff
- Prepare the production facility for fish rearing as directed
- Assist in monitoring fish growth and condition factors
- Assist in the feeding, inventory, sorting, and moving of fish
- Monitor water quality parameters
- Observe behavior and monitor for disease

25% - Facility operations
- Provide public information, including giving tours and maintaining displays
- Conduct duties independently on weekends as assigned
- Assist other hatcheries and rearing stations when needed

10% - Maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment
- Maintain and repair buildings, facilities and equipment under the direction of senior hatchery staff
- Perform grounds maintenance
