Mail Room Clerk/Driver-Mailbox - SPRING 2021 - Student Employment (FWS Required)

Federal Work Study is intended to help meet the needs of the University, provide University students with financial support in pursuit of their academic goals, develop a positive affiliation and assimilation into the life of the University, and provide opportunities for academic or administrative job experience. Federal Work Study positions exist throughout majority of the functional areas of the University. The job duties and responsibilities of student employees vary greatly and may or may not be related to their field of study.

Federal Work Study Eligibility:
This position requires Federal Work Study eligibility

Student employees are not permitted to exceed the total amount of their federal work study award. Supervisors will work with hired student employees to determine a schedule based on the award amount. Once federal work study funds are completely exhausted, students will need to discontinue working. Regardless of federal work study amount, students cannot exceed 10 hours of work per week during the fall and spring semester.

Key Responsibilities:
The students will be needed 12pm-3pm
Responsibilities will include sorting the mail and delivering the mail to the buildings outside the Warde building, students will need a driver’s license a good driving record.
This position is accountable for assisting in the operation of the Mail Room and delivery of mail to offices within the Warde Academic building
The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
1.    Services customers at the walk-up retail window. Preps customers outgoing mail, UPS,   FEDEX etc. packages. Executes retail purchase transactions.
2.    Answers phones
3.    Sorts incoming mail and packages to prep for internal delivery
4.    Delivers mail and packages to internal and student customers
5.    Operates the Pitney & Bowes machinery to meter outgoing mail with correct postage
6.    Some mechanical ability is required to operate machinery
7.    Logs incoming packages and priority mailings
8.    Excellent interpersonal communication skills and customer services skills required
9.    Ability to lift 20 pound packages
10.  Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
11.  Performs related duties as assigned
