University Relations Social Media Micro-Internship - IT - SPRING 2021 - (FWS Required)

What is a Micro-Internship?:
A micro-internship is a short-term (paid) professional opportunity for federal work study-eligible students to get valuable experience and money in their pockets. A typical micro-internship is approximately 5-40 hours of work and concludes after the project is completed. These opportunities allow students to demonstrate and utilize their already-developed skillsets and acquire experience valued by employers.

Federal Work Study Eligibility:
This position requires Federal Work Study eligibility

Student employees are not permitted to exceed the total amount of their federal work study award. Supervisors will work with hired student employees to determine a schedule based on the award amount. Once federal work study funds are completely exhausted, students will need to discontinue working. Regardless of federal work study amount, students cannot exceed 10 hours of work per week during the fall and spring semester.

Duration of Appointment:
Approximately 40 hours of work in total and may not exceed 10 hours of work per week. Appointment may end sooner than 40 hours if project is completed.

Key Responsibilities:
The Social Media Assistant will work with the Office of University Relations to engage varying audiences across multiple social media platforms. Students will gain experience developing and executing social media campaigns, as well as assisting to develop social media strategies. 
Responsibilities
·        Assist the organization with social media marketing techniques to increase visibility, membership and traffic of our website and social media platforms (i.e. Instagram and Twitter)
·        Experiment with innovative ways to leverage social media activities as they relate to marketing
·        Attend and promote virtual events via different social media channels
·        Meet once a week with the Assistant Director of Digital Strategy to go over social media strategies
·        Create and share content about events and student life and campus news
·        Help uncover stories of students who are involved in volunteer work, student organizations, research or have started a program.
·        Assist in pulling of social media analytics
·        Research social media trends and participate in brainstorming sessions
 
Qualifications
·        Must be available to attend events
·        Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines
·        Strong writing, knowledge of AP standards and social media experience desired
·        Must be organized and have outstanding interpersonal skills
·        Photography skills preferred
